These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Aurewood Designs supplies bespoke kitchens, wardrobes, cabinetry and related joinery to you, our client. Please read them together with your written quotation — the two documents form the agreement between us.
Agreement & Acceptance
In these Terms, “Aurewood”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Aurewood Designs; “you” and “your” mean the client we are supplying. By accepting a quotation, paying a deposit, or instructing us to proceed with any work, you agree to these Terms. Where anything in your written quotation differs from these Terms, your written quotation applies to that project.
Quotations & Pricing
Every quotation is prepared specifically for your project, based on the designs, measurements, materials and finishes discussed with you at the time. Unless stated otherwise, a quotation is valid for the period shown on it; once that period lapses, prices may be revised. Quotations reflect the information available to us when they are prepared — if the scope, specification or site conditions change, we may need to adjust the price and will discuss this with you before continuing. Prices are quoted in South African Rand, and whether a price includes Value-Added Tax will be indicated on your quotation.
Orders & Deposits
An order is confirmed once you have accepted your quotation in writing and paid the deposit specified in it. Because each piece is made to order, we begin reserving materials and scheduling production once your deposit is received. The deposit amount and the payment stages for your project are set out in your written quotation.
Payment & Ownership
The balance of the price is payable as set out in your quotation or invoice. Ownership of all goods we supply remains with Aurewood until we have received payment in full, even where the goods have already been delivered or installed. Settling each amount by the dates shown on your quotation helps keep your project on schedule.
Designs, Drawings & Intellectual Property
All concepts, designs, drawings, 3D renders and specifications we prepare remain the intellectual property of Aurewood Designs. They are shared with you for the purpose of your project and may not be copied, passed to another manufacturer, or used to obtain competing quotations without our written permission.
Measurements & Site Conditions
Where we take site measurements ourselves, we are responsible for their accuracy. Where measurements, drawings or specifications are supplied to us by you or a third party — such as your builder or architect — we rely on them being correct. Because bespoke joinery is built to fit the finished space, we recommend that final manufacturing measurements are confirmed on site once walls, floors and services are complete.
Materials & Natural Variation
Timber, veneers, stone and other natural materials are unique by their very nature. Variation in colour, grain, figure and texture is an inherent and desirable characteristic of these materials — not a defect. Samples, photographs and renders are intended to give a representative impression and may differ slightly from the finished result. If a material is discontinued or unavailable, we will discuss the closest suitable alternative with you before proceeding.
Variations to Your Order
Once you have approved your final design and quotation, your order is fixed to that specification. Any alteration or variation requested after approval will be treated as a change to the order and will incur additional costs, and may also affect the agreed timeline. No such changes are carried out until the revised cost and any impact on the schedule have been agreed with you in writing. Please tell us as early as possible if you are considering a change, as some changes may no longer be possible once manufacturing has begun.
Lead Times, Delivery & Installation
Any lead times, delivery dates or installation dates we give are good-faith estimates based on our production schedule and the availability of materials. We will always aim to meet them, but they are not guaranteed and may be affected by factors outside our reasonable control, including material supply and site readiness. We will keep you informed and agree revised dates with you where necessary.
Site Access & Readiness
To install your joinery we need safe and reasonable access to the site, a clear working area, and the relevant areas ready — for example walls, floors, plumbing and electrical work completed where these affect the installation. If the site is not ready on the agreed date, or access is delayed, we may need to reschedule, and any resulting standing time or return visits may be charged. Unless your quotation states otherwise, final connection of plumbing, gas, electrical work and appliances by a suitably qualified, certified professional remains your responsibility.
Workmanship Guarantee & Aftercare
We take pride in our work and stand behind it. The workmanship guarantee that applies to your project, and what it covers, is set out in your written quotation. In general, our guarantee covers defects in our workmanship under normal domestic use. It does not cover fair wear and tear, damage caused by misuse, accident or neglect, alterations carried out by others, or the natural movement and variation of timber and other materials. Manufactured components such as hinges, runners, handles and appliances may also carry their own manufacturer warranties. If something isn’t right, contact us and we will put it right where the guarantee applies.
Care & Maintenance
Bespoke joinery will give you many years of service when it is cared for correctly. We will provide guidance on cleaning and maintenance, and following it helps protect both your investment and any applicable guarantee. Timber and natural materials respond to changes in humidity and temperature; reasonable care and a stable indoor environment help them perform at their best.
Cancellations & Refunds
Because our work is bespoke and made specifically to your order, materials and production are committed once your order is confirmed. If you need to cancel, please tell us immediately. Where we have already incurred costs or begun work, we may retain part or all of your deposit to cover materials, design time and work completed up to that point. Nothing in this clause limits any rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act.
Risk
Risk of loss or damage to the goods passes to you once they are delivered to, or installed at, your premises. From that point we recommend that completed work is covered under your household or building insurance. Until delivery or installation, the goods remain at our risk.
Limitation of Liability
We carry out our work with reasonable skill and care. To the extent permitted by law, Aurewood will not be liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for delay, loss or damage caused by factors outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.
Your Rights under the Consumer Protection Act
As a consumer in South Africa, you enjoy certain rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. These Terms are intended to operate alongside that Act and do not take away any right it gives you. Where any provision of these Terms conflicts with the Act, the Act prevails to the extent of that conflict.
Privacy & POPIA
We handle your personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how we look after it.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and any dispute relating to them or to your project will be dealt with under South African law. Aurewood Designs operates in and around Gauteng.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time so that they remain accurate and current. The version that applies to your project is the one in effect when your order is confirmed, and the latest version will always be published on this page.
